Dog Ears in Libraries across the Country

We hope everyone is enjoying the summer and taking care of their dogs in this heat (remember to always have water available for your dogs, and if it is extremely hot outside, try walk them in early mornings or evenings, when it is a bit cooler)

The education team have had a busy few weeks visiting libraries, summercamps or family resource centres delivering our message. If you are a regular reader of this blog you will know that there have been some changes to our team, so this summery blog post will catch you up on the current education team line up, and will let you know where you can find them in the weeks to come.

Phew. That is a lot of libraries, in fact, taking into account the libraries we have already done this summer, by September our team will have visited a colossal 96 libraries. That’s 96 workshops, and countless children and their families learning the importance of Understand Dogs. We’re giddy just thinking about it. One thing we to note about our summer workshops, although Paul, Audrey, Dawn and Maeve all have education dogs that often accompany them to their workshops, if it is particularly warm out we tend to give the dogs a day off. Although you might be dissapointed, we know you wouldn't want the dogs to feel uncomfortable travelling in the car on a hot day. If this is the case, don't worry. Our workshops are so full of dog content, that you'll enjoy them with or without an education dog.

So please drop by if you live near any of the libraries listed above, and if you are not able to make it, than perhaps you would like to enter our summer library competition anyway?

We are hosting a colouring/art competition across libraries this summer. All the contestants have to do is colour in (or add to) the picture of Captain Canine below, and post it to our Facebook page.

At the end of the summer, the education team will put our heads together and pick the best one. We’re not just looking for amazing colouring. We’d love to see lots of creativity. Maybe Captain Canine has a friend you could add in? Maybe you could put him in a fancy location? And if somehow you could incorporate a responsible dog ownership message to the picture? Well, that would be even better.

Before we let you go, we just want to say one more thing. We mentioned earlier that Fiona was off on maternity leave. We just want to send lots of Love to Fiona, Ian and Ollie (who we know will be an amazing big brother). Best of luck and we’ll see you soon xxx
