Be Dog Smart

Safety is the main theme behind most of our workshops, and these lessons all stem from our Be Dog Smart Campaign, where we aim to keep children and their families, safe around dogs while at home and out and about in the community.

A dog can be a wonderful addition to a family, but even if a child does not have a family pet, every child will interact with dogs at some stage, be it in a friend’s or grandparent’s house, or when out and about.

Therefore it is of the utmost importance that children are aware of how to remain safe around dogs. Our workshops will help children stay safe when interacting with dogs via fun and interactive workshops where we demonstrate how a child's behaviour can affect how a dog reacts.

You can read more about our Be Dog Smart campaign here.

We also have our Be Dog Confident workshops, which aim to help children with mild anxiety around dogs.

Responsible Dog Ownership

Although Safety is the main theme of our primary workshops, we do also touch on Responsible Dog Ownership, particularly in regards Dogs Trust's famous slogan ‘A dog is for life, not just for Christmas®’

Every year we visit hundreds of schools and work with thousands of young people encouraging their personal development and supporting the curriculum. Our trained and experienced team are fully equipped to deliver engaging and interactive lessons to your class, with minimal assistance required from you.

Our education mission includes…

  • Pre-prepared lessons delivered by our Education Team
  • Different interactive learning activities that engage children and young people
  • Flexibility to suit your needs
  • Lessons and workshops that last from 30 minutes to 1 hour (per class)
  • Are completely FREE!

Using dogs as the theme, our workshops and assemblies develop communication, co-operation, build confidence and self-esteem, whilst encouraging responsibility and respect.

We do insist that teachers are present while we conduct our workshops, but don’t worry, we guarantee our content is useful and interesting for both pupils and teachers.
